# The Unified Inbox

The Unified Inbox puts every email and DM a business gets in one place, with AI drafts. It is part of Ownbox. Updated 2026-10-18.

## What is the Unified Inbox?

The Unified Inbox is an add-on machine for Ownbox. It pulls every email and direct message a business gets into one queue and drafts a reply to each one. It runs on Ownbox, the AI business machine you own. It was called the Inbox Machine until October 2026.

## Which channels does it cover?

Gmail, Instagram and Messenger, all in one queue.

## How does it write replies?

For each message it reads the whole thread and drafts a reply on the owner's own AI account, Claude or ChatGPT. The replies are written in the business's own voice.

## Does it send anything on its own?

Only if the owner allows it.

- **Every draft waits by default.** The owner approves it, edits it or skips it, from the dashboard or the phone.
- **The owner can let a channel answer on its own,** for example Instagram DMs, and switch that off again at any time.
- **Email always waits** for a person.

## What else does it do?

- **Search:** it searches every conversation.
- **Overnight messages:** it puts them in the Morning Review, so the owner knows who to answer first.
- **Access for AI agents:** it has its own tools on the Ownbox MCP server, so AI agents can read the inbox.
- **Phone alerts:** a reply waiting shows up on the phone's lock screen.
